Everyone has the right to a lifetime of healthy, happy and pain free smiles. Colgate's Bright Smiles, Bright Futures program has been championing a zero cavity future since 1991. This program has impacted the lives of more than a billion children by providing free oral health education in over 80 countries. Oral health includes not only bright smiles, but it also long-term oral health and well-being. Tooth decay, if left untreated, can cause pain and discomfort, undermine self-esteem, quality of life and result in a poorer school attendance.

The curriculum for Bright Smiles, Bright Futures is available online in 30 languages with a range of resources available for dental professionals, teachers and parents. Resources include songs, posters, coloring activities, quizzes and films.

Adventures of the Molar System

One of the latest resources available to use for free is a film surrounding a character called Wilder and her Adventures of the Molar System. Wilder holds the future of the Molar system in her hands by being transported to outer space with a team of children together with Dr. Rabbit and Dr. Brushwell to fight the Duke of Decay. This interactive and fun film aims to arm children with the advice and motivation to look after their teeth by:

  1. Brushing twice daily using a fluoride toothpaste
  2. Limiting sugary snacks
  3. Flossing once daily
  4. Visiting a Dental Professional regularly.

This film can be used by teachers and educators, be displayed in the waiting rooms of dental offices, used as part of oral health promotion programs and voluntary projects, as well as for sharing with parents and carers of children.

In addition to this new film together with a promotional poster and other related materials that are also free to download, there is a wealth of other resources available for everyone. Children deserve a lifetime of healthy smiles and the Bright Smiles, Bright Futures is a great resource for motivating and educating children and their families on home care and oral health.
