Past Winners

Colgate's Nuestros Niños Winners

Jared Gibby, Erick Crespo, Johanna Hernandez, Jenevieve Bunassar, Litza Lefebre, Lizette Garcia

Congratulations to the Hispanic Student Dental Association chapter at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine on their First Prize winning idea for Colgate's Nuestros Niños (Our Children) contest. Their Brush Bright Mirror addresses the issue of engaging children and parents in improving oral health of Hispanic children. The additional winners were: 2nd Place-Louisville HSDA and 3rd Place-AT Still Arizona HSDA. Please help us to congratulate our Nuestros Niños Winners!

“Our goal as dental students is to not only diagnose and treat the community, but also evaluate the factors contributing to dental disease in the Hispanic community and create solutions. By participating in Nuestros Ninos contest, the HSDA at Nova Southeastern University was able to reach out to children in the Hispanic community and discover a fun and innovative solution to improve oral hygiene. Developing our Brush Bright mirror allowed us to become more involved in the community and made us aware that instructing proper oral hygiene care at a young age can help reduce the imbalance in oral healthcare amongst the Hispanic community.” - Lizette Garcia
