The American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) conducted 2 sets of systematic reviews on the recall and maintenance of patients with tooth-borne restorations, and the recall and maintenance of patients with implant-borne restorations.
The ACP then appointed a panel of experts from the ADA, ADHA, and AGA to achieve consensus, and so the Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) were developed. This was the result of a 3-year educational grant from Colgate.
The recommendations include the use of toothpaste containing 0.3% triclosan for long-term maintenance, and toothpaste with 5000ppm fluoride for tooth-borne restorations.
Colgate created a chairside guide for dental professionals, which simplifies the Clinical Practice Guidelines into a 3-step process as specified by ACP.Download complete ACP Clinical Practice Guidelines Chairside Guide
