No one in dentistry is more active than Colgate in support of education and training for dental professionals and community outreach. Listed below are many of the scholarship opportunities that are available. In most cases, the scholarships are administered by our association partners and you should contact them to learn more. VOLPE Prize
THE VOLPE PRIZE recognizes the best clinical research in periodontology by dentistry students in accredited dental schools or dental post-graduate programs in Canada, Mexico, or the U.S. One abstract from each dental academic institution will be accepted for review. Twelve finalists will be selected to make oral presentations at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, in May 2009. Each finalist will receive a $500 travel grant. The winner of the Volpe Prize will receive $3,500 and a certificate of recognition.

ADA Minority Scholarship Program
Designed for African-American, Hispanic and Native-American students, Colgate and the ADA have teamed up to provide grants of $2,000. To learn more go to the ADA website at http://www.ada.org/prof/ed/scholarships.asp.
NDA Scholarship Program
Established in 1990, the NDAF/Colgate Palmolive Scholarship Fund provides financial aid to African American and underrepresented minorities pursuing careers as dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants. Since 1990, 1.5 million dollars has been awarded to 1,100 students from across the country.

IADR/Colgate Research in Prevention Travel Award

Colgate / IADR Oral Health Research Award
The Oral Health Research Group of the IADR is inviting nominations for a group-sponsored award in oral health research. The purpose of the award is to recognize a body of meritorious research by a member of the IADR Oral Health Research Group, with preference given to a Dental Hygienist. A Certificate of Recognition and one cash award in the amount of $2,000 will be made. This award is intended to provide travel and other support related to attending the IADR annual meeting and participating in the Oral Health Research Group activities. Information about the award winner will be made available to dental hygiene and other dental publications.

IADR/AADR Basic Research In Periodontal Disease Award
Supported by the Colgate-Palmolive Co., this award was established to recognize, encourage, and stimulate outstanding research achievements in basic research in periodontal disease. The award consists of a cash prize and a plaque. To learn more, go to the IADR website.

IADR/AADR H. Trendley Dean Memorial Award
This award recognizes meritorious research in epidemiology and public health. Support is provided by the estate of Frank J. McClure, in memory of the late H. Trendley Dean, and by the Colgate-Palmolive Company. The award, consisting of a plaque and a cash stipend, is presented annually, provided a worthy recipient is nominated. IADR/AADR Student Research Fellowships
You are invited to submit research proposals for the 1998 AADR Student Research Fellowships. These Fellowships, supported by Colgate, as well as by AADR Group Chapters, Sections, and members, are sponsored and administered by the AADR and have been created to encourage dental students living in the United States to consider careers in oral health research.

Colgate Community Outreach Award
The American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA) in conjunction with Colgate Oral Pharmaceuticals Inc., a subsidiary of Colgate-Palmolive Company, has established the ADHA/Colgate Community Outreach Award. This program recognizes ADHA components and individuals who have created and/or implemented significant community outreach programs that focus on preventive oral healthcare.
