Frequently Asked Questions |
 |
Colgate® Visible White™ Chairside Procedure Kit |
| |
What is the pH level of our Chairside Whitening Gel? |
| |
The pH of the mixed gel is 7, which is neutral. |
| |
What is meant by pH activated? |
| |
pH activated means that when the unmixed, concentrated peroxide gel (low 2-3
pH), mixes with the high pH activator, the peroxide starts to break down. This breakdown process forms "free radicals" which react with the molecules that stain your teeth and make them colorless. |
| |
Is chairside whitening better than take-home whitening? |
| |
Chairside and take-home offer different whitening solutions based on patient needs. Chairside procedures are best fit for patients who want to achieve great whitening results in less time and with less effort. Chairside whitening is also recommended for patients that may have a hard time following a regimen for 7-10 days at home. It is recommended that all offices offer both take-home and chairside whitening in order to better meet the specific needs of their patients. |
| |
Does Colgate Visible White Chairside Procedure Kit need refrigeration? |
| |
Only the Chairside Whitening Gel requires refrigeration. Because of this, we have packaged the Chairside Kit, which includes the Chairside Whitening Gel, separately, for convenient refrigeration. If the dental office has space in their refrigerator, refrigerating the entire Chairside Procedure Kit is also acceptable since all of our syringes have been tested and would not be affected if refrigerated. (NOTE: DO NOT FREEZE ANY OF THE SYRINGES.) |
| |
What is the shelf life of Colgate Visible White Chairside? |
| |
The Chairside Kit, which is to be used in the dentist’s office, has a shelf life of 18 months. The take-home syringes included in the kit have shelf life of 24 months. Colgate Visible White has been formulated with a unique hydrogen peroxide stabilization system that provides this long shelf life. |
| |
Is there an age limit or restriction for Visible White Chairside? |
| |
Chairside is not recommended for children under 13 years of age. For Chairside and Take-home, adult supervision is recommended for patients 13-18 years of age. |
| |
How many treatments/uses is the Post Treatment Gel syringe good for? |
| |
The Post Treatment Gel is dispensed in 1.2ml unit dose syringes. A complete arch should use most of the contents in the syringe. If sensitivity is localized, gel can be placed in affected area(s) and a small amount in the molar region to hold tray in place. |
| |
What is the recommended number of days of usage for the take-home syringes? |
| |
Each dentist may recommend differently based on each patient’s situation. As a guideline, patients should use the touch-up treatment for 7 days following the chairside procedure. |
| |
What causes discoloration of teeth? |
| |
Most common causes include smoking, drinking certain beverages over time (such as coffee, tea, wine), tetracycline (antibiotic stains), excess fluoride, tooth trauma, and the normal aging process. |
| |
Is tooth whitening safe? |
| |
Research and clinical studies have proven that tooth whitening under the supervision of a dentist is safe on teeth and gums. And since Colgate Visible White Chairside is formulated with a neutral pH, it is safe on your teeth and gums. |
| |
Are there side effects? |
| |
In some instances, patients may experience mild sensitivity. If sensitivity occurs, consult your dentist. Take-home touch-up regimen may be changed to every second or third day. |
| |
Will Visible White Chairside negatively affect any crown, bridge or restorations? |
| |
A lot of research has been done in this area proving that peroxide-based whitening products do not negatively affect crown/bridge/restorations. It is important to note that hydrogen peroxide does not whiten them. |
